UPDATE DEC 2016: No new plots are being issued due to our move across the road later this year

Membership is open to everyone. New members should sign up at any of our meetings, held on the second Saturday of every month at 10am (except January). Fees are due at the Annual General Meeting in December, announced on this website and on the mailing list, and can be paid until March the following year.

In 2016, the fees are:

  • General Membership $15
  • Plotholders additional fee $40

To become a member and plant in a communal plot, you only need to pay for General Membership. If you’d like an individual plot, you’ll need to become a General Member and join the waiting list. When a plot is free, you’ll need to pay the plotholder’s fee.

On joining, you will be issued with a receipt, security codes for the gate and shed and an information sheet with organic gardening tips and details on how we work.

Waiting list

UPDATE DEC 2016: No new plots are being issued due to our move across the road later this year

You can only add your name to the waiting list by attending a monthly meeting, where we can show you the garden, you can meet other gardeners and see if our structure is right for you.

If we’re a good match, why not join us as a General Member? You’ll get to test what it’s like to garden by working a communal plot, and learn if you have the time to care for a plot of your own. Once you feel you have the time and inclination for a plot of your own, you can nominate to add yourself to the waiting list.

New members who are keen on obtaining a plot are encouraged to attend all working bees as this will improve your chances of getting a plot. We get plenty of sign-ups from new members who are never seen again, and don’t seem interested in taking part in the garden unless they have a plot. This is unfair to other new members who are very keen to garden, or may have a more urgent case for access, and who attend all working bees. We are, after all, a communal garden.

We will give preference to a new member who takes part in working bees, over a member who may have joined before them but who hasn’t been seen or heard from since joining.
