Membership is open to residents from the City of Sydney, due annually. New members can sign up at every meeting, held on the second Saturday of every month at 11am. Fees are due at the Annual General Meeting in December, announced on this website and on the mailing list.
In 2010, the fees are:
General Membership $10
Plotholders additional fee $30
To become a member and plant in a communal plot, you only need to pay for General Membership. If you’d like an individual plot, you’ll need to become a Member and join the waiting list. When a plot is free, you’ll need to pay the plotholder’s fee.
On joining, you will be issued with a receipt, security codes for the gate and shed and an information sheet with organic gardening tips and details on how we work.
Waiting list
The waiting list for a plot is generally more than six (6) months.
If you’re interested in getting involved, sign up for the mailing list and join as a General Member – we’ll be in touch when a plot becomes available. It’s also a good idea to take part in working bees while you’re a General Member to keep an eye on the waiting list.

On subscribing, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to verify your address. If you don’t get this email in your Inbox instantly check your Junk Mail folder, where this can sometimes end up.
New members who are keen on obtaining a plot are encouraged to attend all working bees as this will improve your chances of getting a plot. We get plenty of sign-ups from new members who are never seen again, and don’t seem interested in taking part in the garden unless they have a plot. This is unfair to other new members who are very keen to garden, or may have a more urgent case for access, and who attend all working bees. We are, after all, a communal garden.
We will give preference to a new member who takes part in working bees, over a member who may have joined before them but who hasn’t been seen or heard from since joining.

We don’t use your email address or personal details for any other purpose than to keep you informed, and never pass it onto any third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions in your confirmation email.
